That can be true with acrylic paints, but it really depends on what you want to do with them.

Today, I've posted a journal page where I've used some very inexpensive paints from the scrapbooking section in K-Mart.

A lot of thought had been put into the colour choices..... very enticing. Boxed into s...

Have you used charcoal for drawing yet?

I must admit...I hadn't. All my portaits have been worked in graphite so far.

I had charcoal in my possession....but it had always been used for mixed media projects for that little bit of extra black smudginess when needed lol

But who knew how much easier charcoal is to work with!

A few hints on working portraits with charcoal

Today, however, I set aside some time to make some Christmas goodies.

I'm trying to get back into my art. It's a little hard to feel motivated at the moment, so I thought I'd take a few online courses to get some inspiration. I love to watch other artists work..... Tam from Willowing is one of my favourites.

It was decided he could no longer remain independently living in his house, so we placed him in a nursing home that was just down the road from me. A two hour trip to visit now became only 5 minutes! We spent a lot of time together and became even closer than before.

Dad had jus...

I love playing around with lettering.

For experimentation, I have a lovely, inexpensive A4 grid pad. The grid helps me get used to height and width of the letter forms for any particular style. Without a guide I find that my writing tends to change size and slopes down the page as I write, so the grid helps keep me in check!

Inspiration for my lettering play comes from.....(see pic below)
